The coaches at Tri La Tania recognise that the young years of an athlete’s life could potentially map how they apply themselves to their sport and in life generally. We provide the opportunity to train in a serene landscape, supported and coached in a safe, encouraging environment. We’re sure that the positive memories and feedback will stay with these young adults and serve them well as aspiring and determined athletes.
Youth Development Week
Saturday May 23rd - Saturday 30th May 2020

The week Includes:
Coached by British Triathlon Federation & British Cycling coaches
All rides are coached in ability groups
Coached transition training
Open water coached swimming
Evening group mentor sessions
Coaching staff on hand all week for advice
Nutrition and fuelling advice
Local fresh food: 6 x 2 course evening meals - meal out on the last night
Selection of breakfast cereals provided, freshly baked croissants and pain au chocolats each morning. Fresh baguettes for pack ups
7 nights en-suite accommodation
Sauna and outside hot tub
2 support vehicles at all times with experienced support team, coaches & mechanic
Geneva Airport transfers (flights not included)
You will be coached by fully qualified and experienced British Triathlon and British Cycling Professionals (so you will be well looked after), the opportunity to train as a professional is here if you want it.
We also understand that triathlon and cycling clubs often have their own youth development programmes, therefore please contact us if you have a party of young athletes from your club that you would like to join us for a week. We can work together to provide a suitable programme that is bespoke to your group’s needs.

Saturday (Arrival Day) Transfer from Geneva. Arrive in La Tania approx 15:30pm. Welcome/Introductions. Unpack and build bikes (inc assistance and bike check) 1:1 mentoring with your coaches (time allocated).
Sunday (Courcheval Altiport - *Distance 42km. Climbing +1385m) After breakfast we'll head out on a scenic Trail Run/Walk heading for La Praz and take in the breath taking views on top of the Olympic ski jump…Run time - 45-60 min. After Lunch we head out on out first ride of the week - Courchevel Altiport. We drop down to Bozel for descending practice - coached in groups. A quick Coffee in Bozel sets us up for the climb up to Courchevel Altiport. Starting at the roundabout where the summer weekly TT starts from which is 17.5km - gradient 6.5% average/max 10%. Steep at the start with 10% stretches on the straight roads then fluctuates towards the top making for a difficult climb at TT effort! It is well worth the effort as the views from the top on a clear day are amazing watching planes take off and land at one of the top 5 most dangerous airports in world. We finish the day with our first open water swim of the week in the crystal clear Bozel Lake with amazing backdrop of Le Grand Bec and surrounding mountains.
Monday (Annecy Ride - *Distance 50-90km. Flat ride) After dropping down from La Tania this ride provides guests with a great opportunity to get some speed up on the flatter roads heading for Lake Annecy through picturesque villages where one of the cleanest lakes in Europe awaits us for another fantastic open water swim session. After a coached swim session and wetsuit removal practice we will head on out for a 30min trail run through the Réserve Naturelle Marais du Bout du Lac d'Annecy. After this day you will be glad to know that the support vehicles will drive us home in time for evening meal.

Tuesday (Col de la Madeleine /Les Lacets de Montvernier – *Distance 56km. Climbing +1990m) ‘The Serpent of the Alps’ This climb has everything and always splits the field when featured on the TDF. Very hard to find a rhythm with the gradient fluctuating so much there’s even some downhill on the climb. We start the climb from the Moutier side, 24km with a average gradient of 6.2%. We then drop down to magnificent 18 Hairpins of Montvernier, featured in TDF 2015. Our ride will start at the bottom of the Madeleine and finish in La Chambre. After the amazing ascent/descent of the one of the most famous TDF Mountains we head for Bozel Lake again to work on that open water swimming technique. Then a lift back up the mountain for a well deserved evening meal.

Wednesday (Relaxing Day) Morning: Bike cleaning and maintenance - coach led and supported by Purple Harry. Study time - for those that need to study there will opportunity for at least 2 hours studying on this day. Staff will ensure this happens and the chalet is quiet! Flexibility/recovery session. Mentoring groups and 1:1's throughout the day.
Afternoon: There will be an opportunity for a coached Transition practice session for those wanting to fine-tune their wetsuit removal, mounting & dismounting and short running off the bike. Option 2 is to have a relaxing swim in crystal clear lake or shopping trip or just relax by the chalet in the hot tub whilst enjoy the amazing view.
Thursday (Cormet de Roselend - *Distance 75km. Climbing +1789m) A beautiful enjoyable climb is how our guests describe this one. A Very quiet road with cowbells as background soundtrack and great views of Aiguille du Glacier on this 19 km climb averaging 6-8%. This ride will start on a purpose built cycle track for 10km heading to Bourg St Maurice where we start the climb. After lunch at the top we begin the fantastic descent back to the cycle path and we finish off at the lake in Aime for another crystal clear lake open water swimming session. Our guests have described this climb as the best day of the week!
Friday (Team Time Trial and Mini Individual/Team Triathlons) The last day but probably the most action packed of the week including a Team Time Trial and Mini Individual/Team Triathlons. Athletes will be grouped in ability and get a feel for a short 10km TTT (TDF style).
This day will certainly consolidate all your learning and training over the week and sharpen you up for your return back to the UK and your forthcoming races.
Saturday (Departure day) Leave 10:00am to Geneva.
We will have two support vehicles on all rides and there is an option to make the rides shorter for those that want to start at the bottom of each climb or those that don’t want to climb the hill on the way back home.
Please note: Packed lunches will be transported with the support vehicles on each ride.
Evening meal is scheduled for 19:00.
